DIVING DEEP TO STRENGTHEN THE ROOTS OF SANATANA DHARMA

Rishi Parashara foresees Kaliyuga in the following manner

सर्वमेव कलौ शास्त्रं यस्य यद्रोचते द्विजः।

देवताश्च कलौ सर्वाः सर्वः सर्वस्य चाश्रमः ॥

Meaning: In Kaliyuga anything and everything a person likes becomes Shastra and anyone can become a God and get worshipped easily and people will not follow Ashrama Dharma

धर्मो यथाभिरुचितैः अनुष्ठानैरऽनुष्ठितः ।

वित्तेन भविता पुंसां स्वल्पेनाढ्यमदः कलौ ॥

Meaning: Dharma will be followed as per what each one likes and they will have rituals as per their wish. Money will play a major role and even a man with less money will show off that he is a rich man.

Veda Ghosham Trust is formed and is working towards reviving and building back our ancient practices & rituals of Sanatana Dharma as they existed in the Vedic times which have been codified by our Vedic Rishis more than 1000s of years back.

Veda Ghosham Trust is working towards 3 objectives as given below

  1. VedaAdhyapana:

Teaching Vedas and Veda suktas like Sri Rudram, Chamakam and other Vedic portions which are used in prayogas. These Veda classes are held only in face to face mode in Mumbai city on each Sunday, while online classes are available for Stotras , Sahasranamas, Ashtakams, Dashakams, other Anushtana Vidhanas like Vratas, festivals and certain Nithya Karmas as per Shastra Niyama.

  2.  Nitya Karmanushtana:

Explaining the importance of Nitya Karma (daily rituals prescribed by our Rishis) through Upanyasams (lectures), messages, articles on internet and finally conducting Training camps or sessions for aspirants on the procedure of performing the Nitya Karma Anushtanas. For example:

    • How to take a bath as per Shastras ?
    • How to perform Sandhyavandana as per Dharma Shastras?
    • How to do a simple pooja each day ?
    • How to observe festivals and Vratas ?

Those willing to help Veda Ghosham organize Nithya Karma Anushtana Camps on face to face mode in your respective cities on above mentioned topics can contact us on our email id

  3. Dharma Shastra:

Making people aware of our ancient treatise of higher spiritual living which our Rishis have prescribed to us. The Dharma Shastra or laws of behaviour and Karmas  which shows us the way to live life not only in a span for 24 hours from morning to night but also from birth to death and how we keep ourselves evolving spiritually through Samskaras.

Veda Ghosham Trust is progressing to propagate, teach and help practice 3 unique facets of our Sanatana Dharma. The Vedas, Nityakarmanushtana and Dharma Shastra. The Vedas consist of four parts, the Samhita, Brahmanas, Aranyaka and finally Vedanta. While Samhita tells us everything what is theory, Brahmana tells us how to employ this theory into prayoga or Vedic rituals. The Aranyakas expound into the deeper inner meaning of the mantras while Vedanta tells us the path to Moksha or Salvation. The entire purpose of Vedas thus is divided in 4 steps – firstly , to learn the theory, second is to employ this theory into practicals, third is to contemplate into deeper meanings and fourth is to attain Salvation. Veda Ghosham takes you through each of these steps as recommended by Vedic Rishis in elaborate Dharma Shastras and Sutras. Come and explore our rich heritage with Veda Ghosham and become a practicing Sanatani.

Rare opportunity to earn countless Punyas and wash away our sins

Namaskaram

Yama Tharpanam must compulsorily be done on Krishna Angaaraka Chaturdashi – Tuesday, May 7 morning – (Tuesday and Krishnapaksha Chaturdashi thithi, until 11.40 am)

This Tarpanam must be done by ALL boys and men who have had their Upanayanam done, irrespective of whether their fathers are alive or not. Performing Yama Tharpanam on this day pleases Lord Yama, Chitragupta and relieves oneself and their families from marana bhayam (fear of death), Apamrityu (sudden or unexpected death) and destroys sins committed in the past 1 year.

It hardly takes 5 minutes to do this Anushtana but fetches glorious benefits, so do not miss this rare opportunity

Ladies get the same full benefits as above if they ensure that their husband, sons perform Yama Tharpanam

Yama Tarpanam procedure below:

After snana, Pratah Sandhyavandanam, anytime after sunrise, before Chaturdashi ends at 11.40 am, Yama Tharpanam must be done

Procedure:
Sit facing east –
Achamanam,
Shuklam baradharam..,
Pranayama,
Sankalpa – Mamopatta…..Yama tarpanam aham karishye

Now turn and sit facing south. Perform the Yama Tharpanam as detailed in YouTube audio and message above (3 times individual Arghya per name for each of 14 names of Lord Yama).

Click here to listen to know how to perform Yama Tharpanam.

The YouTube link was recorded for Yama Tarpanam during Deepavali but the procedure is the same. Those who don’t have fathers alive should add black Tila (sesame seed) to water.

Poonal should be in Upaveeta (normal) position and Tharpanam must be given from tip of the 4 fingers since Lord Yama is a Devata (Devata Tharpanam)

After finishing Yama Tharpanam, sit facing east by turning Pradakshina and perform 1 Achamanam

This ends the entire procedure and will take only 5 minutes. Do not miss this rare opportunity

AKSHAYA TRITIYA –
WHAT TO DO AS PER SANATANA DHARMA SHASTRA ?

 10th MAY 2024

Namaskaram 🙏

There isn’t a single reference in Dharma Shastra which says that on Akshaya tritiya we need to buy gold or that buying gold will increase our gold savings in the locker. If you would like to follow the real way to practice austerities associated with Akshaya tritiya in Dharma Shastra, then read on.

Akshaya tritiya is the first day of Treta Yuga, of our Vedic calendar. After Krita Yuga (also called Satya Yuga), comes Treta Yuga, then Dwapara Yuga and now we are in the final and last yuga for this cycle which is Kali Yuga. We are in the 5126th year of Kali yuga and we have more than 4,27,000 years for Kali yuga to end. The only way to ensure that we and our future generations survive the onslaught of Kali yuga which distracts people from the path of dharma is to follow our Nitya Karma anushtana and Vratas mentioned in Dharma Shastra. In fact Akshaya tritiya is a Vratam to be followed by men and women. So what to do on this day as mentioned in our Dharma Shastras?

1. Have an early morning usual bath at home. Then later Sea bath recommended during Punyakala in timings given in the article (Samudra Snanam) is considered to be highly meritorious on this day. It will give benefits of Sahasra Go Danam (1000 cow donation) and Bhumi Danam (donating a land) in Kurukshetra as per shastras. If you cannot go to sea, then river bath, temple theerta (temple holy tank) bath is also meritorious. If not have a bath at home. While having bath, keep some akshata (rice mixed with turmeric) on head and have a bath.

2. Men should perform Sandhyavandanam after bath, while women should take bath and prepare for Sri Laxminarayana Pooja on this day. Preparing neivedhyam and doing the necessary arrangements for the Pooja. While women do this, men should start preparing for tarpana.

3. Men who don’t have father should perform tarpana, as doing tarpana on this day will satisfy the pitrus (ancestors) for 2000 years immensely and they would bless you with long life to perform more Dharma Karyas.

4. Then as a couple, both husband and wife (if both not available at least either one) should perform Lord Laxminarayana Pooja with with Chandan (sandalwood paste) and flowers and lot of Akshata (raw rice mixed with turmeric). If elaborate or even short Pooja rituals are not known by you then just by chanting “Om Laxminarayanaya namaha” either 11, 21, 51. 108, 1008 times offer flowers and Akshata at the feet of Laxminarayana. You can do archanai with Ashottaram (108 names) for Vishnu and Laxmi too if you know. Show neivedhya, camphor and finish the Pooja. One who know Vishnu Sahasranama can chant it. Pooja Muhurtham for this day is from 6:05 am to 12:35 pm

5. This day, a special highly meritorious act is mentioned in Dharma Shastra which is “Jalakumbhadana” or donating 1 or 2 water-filled pot to a Vedic Brahmin. So how this should be done? One water-filled pot for satisfying Devatas and another water filled pot for satisfying Pitrus (ancestors) should be given to same/different Brahmin/s. Pot should be made of Bronze/Brass/Copper/Mud. Procedure for giving both as per Shastra written below.

6. Water Pot for satisfying Devatas – Fill the pot with water, tie thread around it, apply chandan/kumkum on pot. Along with the pot keep fruits, pan(betel) leaves, flowers, chandan, turmeric, kumkum, coconut, barley, some money, dhoti etc and give it to the Brahmin by chanting the below mantra. Before giving the pot to Brahmin do this Sankalpa “Mamopatta samasta durita kshya dvara Sri Parameshwara Preetyartam udakumbha-dana- kalpokta- phalam- avaptyartam brahmanaya udakumba danam karishye”. Below is the mantra to be chanted while giving this water pot with other items mentioned to the Brahmana. Face east while giving danam. This danam can be done by ladies also.

“Yesha Gharmaghato dato, brahma-vishnu-shivatmakaha,
Asya pradanat-sakala, mama santu manorataha”

एष घर्मघटो दत्तो ब्रह्मविष्णुशिवात्मकः ।
अस्य प्रदानात्सकला मम सन्तु मनोरथाः ।।

By doing this, all your desires in your heart (manorataha) will get fulfilled as signified in the mantra.

7. Water pot for satisfying Pitrus (manes/ancestors) – This danam should be done only by men who don’t have father. Fill the pot with water, add into the pot water, sandal wood paste or sandal powder, flowers, black til. Keep along with the pot some sugarcane, raw rice, fruits, curd rice, umbrella, hand fan etc and donate it to a Brahmin. The sankalpa for donation is “Mamopatta samasta durita kshya dvara Sri Parameshwara Preetyartam kalpokta-prakarena pitrunam-akshaya- truptyartam- bramhanaya udakumba danam karishye”. Then chant the below mantra and give the above items with the water pot. This should be done only by men those who don’t have father. Face the south while giving the danam. This danam cannot be done by ladies.

“Yesha gharmaghato datto, brahma-vishnu-shivatmakaha,
Asya pradana truptyantu, pitharopi-pithamahaha,
Gandhodhaka tilairmishram sannam kumbha phalanvitam,
Pitrubhya sampradasyami akshyyam-upathishtatu”

By chanting this mantra and donating all the above items with the water pot will satisfy your ancestors/pitrus forever.

8. If doing all these Danams is not possible physically due to lack of Vaadhyar coming home, then whatever is the cost of all these items and some additional dakshina can be transferred online to one who works for good cause of upliftment of Sanatana Dharma or your family priest

9. After this, have lunch in the afternoon as you will be fasting from morning all this time. Night time meals should be skipped, liquids can be consumed. This day only one lunch should be had and no dinner.

This would complete “Akshaya Tritiya” austerities and Vrata for ladies/gents/both.

Dharma Shastra says, the more you give/donate in Akshaya Tritiya the more will come back to you. If you buy things for yourself due to self-interest like gold bars, jewellery etc then your punya will decrease. This is a day of giving danam / donating to Vedic brahmins. Dharma Karyas is the most important karma on this day and it is not a day for buying things for self. So giving danam on this day will help increase your punyas and give you many fold in return for your good deeds
