MORE ON DHARMA SHASTRAS

Namaskaram.

Our Shastra recommends a special procedure to predict the future profession of child which is for couples all varnas who have child. This procedure is called Jeevika Pareeksha (profession test of the child) which is done after Annaprashana of the child after 6 months. It used to be an exciting occasion for the family in the ancient Vedic world. Shastra recommends that on a good day, good time, after praying to your Kuladeivam and other Devatas in your pooja, to lay down many items like books, toys representing various professions, weapon, cloth etc. Arrange them in a single line on the floor. While arranging these items don’t get the child in the room. Once the arrangement of these items are done on the floor, then get the child in the room and put the child on the floor a little distance away from these items. Now allow the child to crawl across the floor and pick any item. The item which the child picks first will be the most likely profession the child will choose in the future.

If child first picks books then he child will choose a profession related to education. If weapon; then military. If cloth then business and so on. Toys of human figures representing various professions then that profession etc. Though for the modern mind this may seem very funny and one may think if such things really happen. It is upto you to believe or not and try to find out yourself if this works for your child in the future. Only time will tell. Next question can be that the professions have changed / many professions have got added over a period of many Yugas, as these shastras written by our Rishis are very ancient from the Vedic world. For example you may ask, can we keep a laptop as an option for the child to pick up? Can we keep a sthethoscope for the child to pick up? The answer is sure, why not, you can !

Try, and keep track of what your child. In future you can come back and check with what you wrote  a few years later.

Om Medha Devyay Namaha !

NO AUSPICOUS FUNCTIONS SHOULD BE CONDUCTED DURING GURU AND SHUKRA MOUDYAM/ASTAM.

GURU MOUDYAM – May 5, 2024 to June 4, 2024 ;   June 10, 2025 to July 11, 2025
SHUKRA MOUDYAM – April 28, 2024 to July 10, 2024 ; March 19, 2025 to March 26, 2025
MANGALA (Mars) MOUDYAM – None in 2024 or in 2025

Namo Namah.

In the course of Dharma Shastra awareness series we try to educate people on yet another important planetary combustion / moudyam which is occurring on the above dates. No auspicious functions like Upanayana and Vivaha should be conducted during planetary moudyam period. Read on to know in details.

Let us understand what do you mean by Moudyam / Astam as called in Sanskrit or combustion of the planet called in English. Planet Guru is the Adishtana Devata for Rig Veda, planet Shukra for Yajur Veda and Mangala (Mars) for Sama Veda. Moudya is a period in which Guru comes in a 9° alignment with the Sun and Shukra comes in a 6° 36’ alignment the Sun and Mangala at 15° alignment with the Sun. Since they come at this close alignment to the Sun they lose their own power and get totally hidden by the Tejas / Prakasha of the Sun and thus lose their own power to influence any auspicious function. Thus they get hidden under the power of Sun and this is called Moudyam or Astam.

Dharma Shastras mention that no auspicious functions should be performed by Rig Vedis during Guru moudyam and no auspicious functions should be performed by Yajur Vedis during Shukra Moudyam and similarly Samavedis should not organize any auspicious function during Mangala Moudyam as for their respective Vedas they are the Adishtana Devatas. These planets shouldn’t be in Moudyam for the respective Vedas. Thus Rigvedis fixing auspicious functions should avoid Guru Moudyam period and Yajurvedis fixing auspicioius functions in their family should avoid Shukra Moudyam and Samavedis Mangala Moudyam.

What happens if we continue to perform the function in Moudyam. Shastras say it should be forbidden as Samskara done during this period will not carry the blessings or anugraha of the Devata of that particular Veda and the ceremony itself will lose its power / balam. Unfortunately due to severe ignorance in Kaliyuga very few people are aware about this important part in Muhurtha Shastra and not even the ones who call them learned pandits who fix the function are aware of this. The best option to postpone the dates in case any function is planned during this moudyam period and if not then there are pariharams which need to be performed as per Shastras which is not the best option.

My request to all is to forward/share this post to as many as possible so that Shastra awareness can be spread to more and more people. Let us not be ignorant of this important aspects and help all to perform their karma in proper time in proper way.

Please note that this moudyam dates given are for Mumbai location. You can do a google search on moudyam / asta with your location name to get dates.

You can contact us on vedaghosham@gmail.com for any further queries.

Namo Namah !

Panchapatram is already widely used by most of our households for various Nitya karmas poojas etc. But I am not here to tell you what you know, rather I am here to tell you what you may not know.

Dharma Shastras (Smritis) written by our Vedic Rishis give a complete direction for our anushtanas not only the steps but also the vessels used for the same with uses. So here is what you should not do with Panchapatram and Uddharni

1. Panchapatram for each family member should be separate. Father cannot use son’s Panchapatram and vice versa.

2. You cannot use your panchapatram in which you are using for achamana and other Nityakarma for offering Padhya, Arghya, Achamaneeya, Snana etc to Bhagavan during pooja or homam.

3. Panchapatram for Devatas in Pooja should be different and you should not use your panchapatram to offer various upacharams to Bhagavan in Pooja

4. Your panchapatram cannot be used to offer theertha other upachaarams to brahmanas during Shraddha. You should buy and give them a separate panchapatram for their use.

5. You cannot do Arghya pradhana during Sandhyavandana to Gayatri Devi with your panchapatra water and Uddharni with single hand. This is a very big papam as you are offiering your achamana balance jalam to Gayatri Devi are Arghya. When your son itself cannot use your achamana patram for his achamana or jalam for his anushtanas, how can you offering Arghya that too 1 uddharni to Gayatri Devi in Sandhyavandanam ?

6. Shastra is clear when it gives direction for giving Arghya to Gayatri Devi in Sandhyavanadana, it says “Karabhyam Toyam aadaya” / “Anjalina toyam aadaya” Karabhyam (with both hands) Toyam (water) aadaya (take) in Anjali posture (Anjali means join both hands together and take water) so both hands when joined together, water should be taken, filling both the palms. You may ask how to do this ?

7. You need to take a chombu /small kalasham filled with water and catch the neck of this chombu between your left hand index finger/forefinger and left thumb and lift it, tilt it a bit while holding both hands together in Anjali posture so that water flows out fill both palms. Then chant Gayatri and do Arghya pradanam. Hands fully filled with water is what we need to offer to Gayatri devi and not 1ml Uddharni jalam which is there after you have done your achamana.

8. Similarly for Navagraha Devata Tarpana in Sandhyavanadana you should not use your Achamana panchapatra and do tarpana with Uddharni. Same method as said in step 7 should be used here. Minimum 1-1.5 litres of water should be offered in Sandhyavandana Argha pradana and Navagraha Devata Tarpana. For this also you need to keep a big tambalam which can hold this flowing water.

9. Also self marjana “Apohista Mayo Bhuvah” and Dadhikravanno” should not be done from Uddharani water from Panchapatra. You should keep some water in a separate small cup for doing this Marjana during Sandhyavandana.
10. Similarly your Achamana Patra jalam/water in which you have done Achamana cannot be used prokashanam on others.

11. Similarly in Brahmayagna Deva-Rishi-Pitru Tarpana you cannot offer water with 1 uddharni each from your Panchapatram. You need to keep adequate water in your chombu (may be even you may need 2 chombus) as there are multiple tarpanas and all have to be done with both hands joined together in Anjali. 3-4 litres of water may be required in Brahmayagna.

11. You cannot do Amavasai Tarpana offering to your forefathers from your panchapatram in which you have done achamana. Also amavasai tarpanam should be done with both hands joined together as Anjali as explained in step 7. You need to keep a separate chombu / vessel for offering tarpana in Amavasai to you forefathers.

12. Vessels used for Deva karyam should not be used in Pitru karyam and vice versa. You need to keep a separate set of patrams (kinnam, chombu, plate) etc for Pitru karyam. Which are only used for pitru karyams.

13. Thus your panchapatram and uddharni is for only your use and only for Achamanam. You cannot do anything else with it. For all karmas requiring Arghya pradana / tarpana etc separate vessels need to be used.

I am always amazed to see that people are doing Sandhyavandana with just one panchapatram uddharni and one small plate. Devatas and Pitrus have regarded water as Amrutham (divine nectar) and have given this in abundance so that we give them back in abundance. But unfortunately we are using 1-1 Uddharni to do all these. I also see so many people doing Avani Avittam the same way. All these are miles aways from Shastras and have come in due to lack of guidance from well read people in Shastras.

At Veda Ghosham we actively train people on Nityakarma as prescribed by our ancient Rishis in Sutras, with minute details of do’s and don’ts during our daily Nitya karma-anushtanas with indepth meaning and tattva.

We run camps in various cities and also have started online classes on Nityakarmas like Sandhyavandanam, Brahmayagnam, Pundra Dharana Vidhi (Vibhuti/Namam), Snana Vidhanam ,Vrata Anushtanam, Festivals celebration as per Shastras, Devata Poojai to name a few and many more like this. Interested people can write a email to us with their details (Name, age, location, Gotram, Vedam,Sutra, topic interested in etc).

POWER OF MANTRAS, ARE CERTAIN TO CREATE POSITIVE CHANGES IN YOUR LIFE

Namo Namah.

Have you ever wondered at certain stages of your life you have tried 100% but you are not successful.

Example: propriating
1. I have attended an interview, gave my best but did not work out.
2. I am looking out for marriage but nothing is working
3. I am trying to be successful in studies but I am not able to secure higher marks
4. I am trying to sign a business contract but last minute is doesn’t materialize
To name a few…..

Inability to achieve something we attribute to bad luck and we again repeat the same process again and again and sometime we may succeed and sometime we repeatedly fail. Attributing our inability to accomplish the task thus gets attributed to bad luck and we wait for good luck to smile at us. In Vedic language this is called “Adristam” or “something which cannot be seen”. Good to have a positive thinking for sure but are you doing some effort from your side to convert the bad luck to good luck. Is it possible? Any effort done by you should be supported also by divine will.

In all the 4 Vedas you will find mantras extolling a Devata by name “Bhaga” who is a Devata for Luck/Fortune. From this word “Bhaga” we derive the words Bhagyavan (One with good fortune) or Bhagya (luck/fortune). In Vedic corpus there are prayers addressing this Devata to turn give you good luck in all activities you do.

Now you may wonder how a Vedic chanting can change my situation ?
Every sound has an effect and invokes either an attention or response. It depends on what we are hearing. Let us take a small baby who is crying, though it doesn’t say any words while it is crying, the mother comes to know why her child is crying. By the tone and the pitch of the sound of the baby, the mother can come to know what action to take. Imagine, here the baby is just producing a sound which is meaningless for us but it produces an effect on the mother which propels her in action. As far as adults are concerned we are also moved into action my sound. Someone rings the doorbell, we move into action to execute opening of the door. So, sound moves a person to action. You may ask what about specially abled people who can’t speak, they communicate by only actions. Now let us co-relate this in a pooja or a homam, we chant mantras verbally and we perform actions (putting ghee in the fire etc) and we communicate in both ways to the Gods. There are specific parts in rituals where we are supposed to only do the action without reciting any mantras.

Thus by appropriate Veda mantra chanting and actions where required we are able to convey to the Gods what we need.Sound the Sabda Brahman. Similarly the frequency, pitch and the intonation of Veda mantras have been preserved with perfection by our Vedic Rishis and imparted to us in such a way through generations by Guru Shishya Paramapara that it has to power not only please the Bhaga Devata but also any other Devata to whom we are addressing the mantra and make the environment favourable for you. Veda Mantras are in Devavani the language of Gods. The Shraddha, Bhakti and the intensity with which we recite/chant the mantras can effect the environment and make things favourable for us (the baby does it’s job with full intensity to attract attention, it has high focus and knowledge of which action will evoke a reaction).

Unfortunately in Kaliyuga we has money, power and we can hire people to do certain things for you. But are you willing to do it ? Do you fully believe in our Shastras? Is our consciousness connecting with the consciousness of the Supreme? In the ancient India all human wants could be achieved by performing rituals mentioned in the Vedas. There are documentations of how rain could be produced by performing a Yagna called “Kareera Ishti”. It will rain 100% if your perform this Isthi in the proper way without any shortcuts.
50% is your effort on a executing the task, but the other 50% which we say is bad luck can be converted to positive environment for you if you fully believe in what our Sages preached for our higher living !

ARE VEDIC RITUALS / SAMSKARAS APPLICABLE TO KALIYUGA ?

Namo Namaha.

We follow many rules in day to day life without questioning why? Traffic rules, school rules, college rules, company rules, social law etc which are either determined by governing authorities or the constititution of the country per say. Breaking any such rule stated above invokes punishment. The governing authorities keep a watch and fine you for not following the codes of conduct. If we break traffic signal we get fined, if we go to school late each day we get penalized, if we don’t follow company rules our performance appraisal get affected (our rating, salary, promotion). Thus non performance of the karma (duties, expected codes of conduct, behaviour) enshrined in the code of coduct (SOP) of the institution/ government rule invokes punishment.

The difference between the above current life examples and the vedic karmas/ duties is, for the current life duties there are governing authorities who note down and punish, while for Vedic karma the Rishis who expected us to do all this and trusted us blindly as we are from their lineage, are not there to watch us. Its like we trust our children, they trusted us as we are their children in their illustrious lineage. But it is a human tendency is to skip if no one is watching which most of us are doing. Also taking things casually without going into the depth to understand it. Similary Rishis have a made an SOP (code of conduct) for their children “US” which we call “Shastras”. But who is there to watch us if we follow shastras or no ?

Shastras says that there are 14 Sakshis (witnesses) who are divine beings who keep a watch on us each minute and record our deeds. Though they can see us and are watching over us but we can’t see them. Its like how in a traffic signal the camera records our traffic break and we get in the ticket in the app later on. So if traffic police is there in front he will fine immediately, if camera capture rule break then punishment will come at later date on mobile app. So depending situation the punishment can either be immediate or later date. The punishment given to us also depends on our punya – papa balance in our karmic account. If we have accumulated lot of punya we continue to lead a good life even without performance of karma but this is not ever continuing. These punya balance gets depleted each passing day of non performance of karma as there is no credit added to punya account so punya gets depleted slowly and once the account balance is nil we see an upside down of our smooth sailing life. It is like the traffic rule break ticket on mobile app. It is also like the
charge of the mobile as it gets depleted on usage. But again you need to charge the mobile if you want optimal trouble free performance. So vedic karmas charge your punya account balance and clear our karmic debt.

So the Rishis foresaw that in Kaliyuga people will be lazy, they will question everything and their intellect won’t be to the level of humans of other Yugas and thus they wrote an abridged version of guiding rules for Kaliyuga called Kaliyuga Dharma. So currently kindly remember we are not exactly following what our ancestors in other yugas did as those were very extensive.

Simple example
Ashwamedha yaga is banned in kaliyuga as it was possible and yielded results only in earlier yugas.
Sandhyavandana we do currently is also highly abridged as compared to earlier yugas. Also they said in Kaliyuga people with real bhakti and Shraddha towards our Shastras can gain results faster compared to huge efforts needed in earlier yugas to obtain results.

Please watch my videos on Yuga Dharma on Veda Ghosham YouTube to discover prediction of kaliyuga.

Rishi Vyasa says:

“Yatkrute dashabhirvarshaihi, treyayam hayanena tath.
Dwaapare taccha maasena ahoratrena tat kalow”

“In the Krita Yuga the 1st Yuga whatever karma you do will yield results only in 10 years, in 2nd Yuga which is treta yuga results of karma will come in 6 months. In 3rd Yuga Dwapara results will come in 1 month and in Kaliyuga if you perform Vedic karmas properly results will come in 24 hours”

Now you may say I am doing everything but results are not coming. For results to come there are a few prerequisites’.
1. Mantras and step wise sequential process of the karma is like a mathematical formula. If you don’t know the equation and steps right in proper order then you need more efforts to get results.

2. It also depends on how much papa is accumulated in your karmic account. Example is in Veda Ghosham we have lot of middle aged men who come in 40s to join us for anushtana classes like Sandhyavandana or pooja or other vedic rituals. Somehow this age is a turning point of most who start bending to spirituality. What happens at 40. Not getting promotion, job instability, his children are in teenage and don’t listen to parents, health issues, managing house becomes difficult, loans, liabilities, managing aged diseased parents etc. Also for many people the Shani dasha starts here which forces people to seek spiritual solace. So our new students come now and learning our anushtanas begins after a gap of 30 years of non performance of nitya karmas which has its own drawbacks. So first few years / months depending on karmic account, will go in clearing the papas committed and non-anushtana papas (sins) all these years. So with regular anushtanas with full faith you will reach from minus to level zero then you will start building up of punya and will get results thereafter.

Finally non performance of Vedic karmas or samskaras will it affect me in anyway?
To make a cut in any sphere of life you may have all the pre-requisties like qualification, calibre, experience but why you don’t finally make a cut. We commonly term it as bad luck. Bad luck is invisible to naked eye but has effect. Shastras call this as Adrushta phala (invisible result). Every activity is governed by an invisible principle which is beyond our understanding. Electricity cannot be seen running in wire with naked eye but we get the results. So we need to believe in the invisible energy of the divine which impacts our life. Non-performance of karmas will lead to dissatisfied life, lack of calmness, stressed mind, diseases, in-decisiveness, struggle in every part of life though you may be competent technically with modern knowledge.

MY UPANAYANA IS OVER. BUT I DO NOT WEAR IT. IS IT OK TO CONTINUE AND WEAR IT ONLY AS
NECESSARY ?

Namo Namah.

I have come across many Brahmins who do not wear Yagnopaveeta (poonal/janeu/munj/poita/janivara) at all after their Upanayana. When I asked them why they don’t wear it they give the following reply / excuses

1. In our family tradition we don’t wear it constantly. Only during pooja /Shraddham (Many
North Indian Brahmins say this).

2. If we wear it we have to be extra careful as when we go to toilet we have to wrap it around the ear, which is difficult in public/with shirt. So better not to wear it.

3. Our Upanayana happens 1 day before marriage then next day after marriage we remove it and hang in the cupboard / locker, we wear it during pooja/festivals etc. (many brahmins in Andhra and North India perform Upanayana 1 day before marriage)

4. We don’t wear it regularly as we eat onion, garlic and sometimes non veg.

These are the 4 commonest responses I have got when I question them why you don’t wear Yagnopaveeta and we will answer each point by point as per Dharma Shastra.

Let us understand a few things before we come to answer of these 4 statements. The Upanayana Karma which confers the position of “Dvija” to the individual who is undergoing the Upanayana. Dvija means “twice born” or “rebirth” of the boy to Brahmacharya Ashrama. Shastras say now after he becomes Dvija his biological father is no more the father but now his father is the Acharya/Guru and the mother is Gayatri Devi as the boy receives Gayatri Mantra Upadesha from the Acharya and that too only after the Yagnopaveeta (sacred thread) is put on this shoulders during the ceremony. So his Dvijatva (or the title of being a dvija), also eligibility to get Gayatri Mantra Upadesha comes afer he receives the Yagnopaveeta and only after which he can get permission for Gayatri mantra Upadesha and Sadhana. Also receiving the Yagnopaveeta (sacred/holy thread) symbolizes the movement of the boy from free child who behaves however he wants to a more strict and disciplined life under the observation of the Guru and he needs to worship his new mother as a “Dvija” who is Gayatri Devi 3 times in a day through Sandhyavandana. As our earthly mother can provide and food and affection. But only the spiritual mother can provide us all round and spiritual progress, clarity of thought and purpose of life and innermost satisfaction of knowing the divine.

Today most of our problems in life is due to non adherence to the promise which we make during Upanayana to take care of this spiritual mother or doing her upasana daily. Without her (Gayatri Devi) divine grace support and regular chanting of the Gayatri mantra through the step wise process as written by our Rishis in Sandhyavandana we are like chargeless battery enable to illuminate our spiritual self and get clarity of purpose of life. And thus in latter part of life we roam from one to another astrologers for seeking opinion to current our course of life and go from temple to temple for performing Pariharams.

So as cited in the above 4 examples when we remove our Yagnopaveeta voluntarily, we sacrifice being a Dvija, we fall down from our existent level of Brahmana, we voluntarily give up the opportunity to be disciplined and voluntarily commit sin, we voluntarily give up worshipping our mother Gayatri Devi by giving up Sandhyavandana despite taking her Mantropadesha, we voluntarily loose the eligibility to perform any Nityakarma or any rituals. Thus whatever we do becomes fruitless. We become a dead battery as we never bothered to charge our spiritual selves with the power of Nitya Karma, Anushtanas and Mantra Japa as recommended in Shastras.

Here are some answers to the 4 statements above
1. There is not even a single Sutra/Mantra/Sloka in Dharma Shastra which allows us to remove the Yagnopaveeta and hang it and re-use it whenever we want. The families who say that as per our custom we don’t wear it, are following this baselessly without a single Pramana (evidence) from Shastras to do so. Also such people who haven’t worn Yagnopaveeta for many days / months/ years together cannot again become Dvija by wearing it again and whatever Karmas they perform will be fruitless. They spend money with no results and happiness. They cannot be included in category of Dvija again without Prayaschittas (expiation for sins).

2. Going to toilet without wearing Yagnopaveeta itself is a bigger sin compared to wearing it and not keeping it in the ear and going to toilet. If by mistake the Yagnopaveeta comes out and we did not observe and we go to toilet for passing urine, then we come back a notice that our Yagnopaveeta is not there, first thing we need to immediately wear it and then perform a Prayaschitta for unknowingly the Yagnopaveeta coming out. The Prayaschitta for not wearing Yagnopaveeta and going to toilet is to perform 800 Gayatri Japa for each time of visiting toilet. So imagine how much sin the person would be committed by permanently removing the Yagnopaveeta and going to toilet for years all together after Upanayana. Similarly without Yagnopaveeta if we eat, following day we have to consume only 1 meal at night after full day fasting.

3. Performing Upanayana 1 day before marriage is totally against Dharma and Shastras of Sanatana Dharma. No book, no Rishi, no Gyani and not even in Vedas which is the supremen and in any Sanatana Dharma Shastra Grantha it has been written that this can be done. This practice is totally against Hindu Dharma and has to be stopped immediately. The Upanayana for a Brahmin boy should be done from 7 years of age and on or before 16 years of age which is the maximum limit recommended in Shastras. Upanayana after that is big sin without proper Prayaschittas it cannot be done. And such a marriage after 1 day of Upanayana is also not possible /permissible in Shastras.

4. Once again here, people to eat whatever they want, to do sin they have thrown away something very very highly sacred and spiritual. How can the mind decide to this?Voluntary sin carries more punishments and Prayaschittas compared to sins committed unknowingly.

The Yagnopaveeta Dharana mantra which is chanted before wearing it, the wearer looks at the Yagnopaveeta and address the sacred thread as below “Hey Yagnopaveeta, you are the object of the highest regard, you existed at the beginning of creation and came along with Brahma during his birth. Let this sacred Yagnopaveeta offer me long life, may I be first in whatever it do, and by wearing it may I be pure, may I get strength to perform my duties and divine tejas [brilliance]”

So by not wearing/voluntarily removing the Yagnopaveeta we confirm to the Gods that we do not want any of the above.

Veda Ghosham is working towards bringing spiritual wisdom in terms of right knowledge to people today as recommended by our ancient Dharma Shastras. We also aim to bring back ancient rituals (Nitya Karma Anustanams) to current set of seekers but who don’t know from whom and what to learn. If interested in knowing more and be a part of practitioner of Dharma Shastra and Nitya Karma Anushtanas, you can contact us

Namaskaram. I get very heart wrenching phone calls from parents on how their young children staying in foreign countries get disinterested in our illustrious Dharma, leaving our culture and adopting the foreign culture and even getting married to locals there. Some of such category of people moving away from our Dharma are:

1. Families who are staying in foreign countries for many years, some may be citizen of that country already.

2. For some, parents are here and the teenager migrates to foreign land for studies and job and stays their permanently

3. Some are searching for bride / bridegroom only based in foreign land get married to pursue their materialistic dreams away from Dharma.

Over a period of time after going there the Foreign social system adoption and peer pressure makes them leave his/her identity and adopt the behaviour and mindset of people living there. Some of them staying for long time there do not even know their illustrious origins.

Bharatavarsha, in ancient times, people from all over the world used to come to seek knowledge and now it is the reverse. Patriotism is not just by joining for armed forces or participating Independence day celebrations but also to stay in our own country and try to protect our culture and heritage by being a practicing Sanatani. Our ancestors who sacrificed their life for our country in various ways in the vedic age which is not just limited to Kshatriyas to defended the country from foreign invasions but the Brahmanas who guided all with their knowledge of ancient treatises of Dharmic texts combined with their Vedic prayers seeking country protection from the divine. There is a seperate portion in Vedas called “Rashtrabhrit” which is a specific prayer for protection of our country and country people. This is even chanted now during Veda parayanas. Thus Brahmins were patriotic by performing rituals for protection of the country. The others were also a team with other two understanding their role in helping the country in every way by producing items needed for sustainence & protection of the country. All were patriots in their own way. Leaving our own village and migrating to another town for any reason was looked down and was a really big emotional affair for all.

But now as soon as the child is born, either the parents have set the destination of the child or the child during course of education decides to leave his motherland a go in pursuance of materialistic benefits. How many high intellectual minds rather than using their skills here to upgrade our country are working for other countries.

Now what kind of phone calls I am getting ?

1. Brahmin boy has thrown away his yagnopaveeta (poonal) as it doesn’t look good on him in gym and his friends are asking him what is it you are wearing. Explaining is difficult each time. Also he feels out of the friend dynamics of bonding if he wears it.

2. A boy who was doing Sandhyavanadana in his childhood and teens in Bharatavarsha earlier, now doesn’t find time at all after going there so he has stopped everything which his country and cultural identity.

3. A girl / boy from Bharatavarsha has gone into a live in relationship with a partner after attaining 18 years of age. This act is driven by desire of bodily pleasure rather than any thought on Dharmic values of Bharata orginally from where they below to.

4. A girl / boy from Bharatavarsha has converted to another religion to be with boyfriend / girlfriend

5. When parents who stay back here need them the most, their sons/daughters can’t come as their priorities change once they go there, also travel logistics, so they put parents in old age homes. The parents who did everything for them now at are the mercy of paid workers to take care of them. Their children at times can’t even come for cremation of their parents.

6. A girl / boy from Bharatavarsha marries a local foreigner there and plans a family. Driven by pure animalistic desire not Dharma again. Shastras say how a human differs from an animal is because of his / her ability to follow Dharma which animals don’t understand. But how are we behaving …..?

All the above category of people fall from Sanatana Dharmic tenets and assume a new title called “PATITA”. They can’t be anymore called Sanatani or hold their original caste. They are classified in our Shastras as “PATITA” which means the “fallen one.” They lose the karmadhikara (rite of performance) of Vedic rites and thus they are a excluded bunch from the religious stream of Bharatavarsha.
All this for what ? Money & personal bodily pleasure ? Nothing you want to give back to your country ? Can’t well educated student get a good earning source here itself ? Can’t he/she find a partner who is culturally and socially oriented to our customs and origins.

When our Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi ji can launch a campaign #MakeInIndia why can’t we get together & #WorkInIndia #StayInIndia and give back in our own way back to our country as mentioned in our Vedic texts ?
I close my write up with slokas from Bhagavat Geeta Chapter 1 on marriages outside your own kula/caste

सङ्करो नरकायैव कुलघ्नानां कुलस्य च ।
पतन्ति पितरो ह्येषां लुप्तपिण्डोदकक्रियाः ॥४१॥

sankaro narakayaiva kula-ghnanam kulasya cha
patanti pitaro hy esam lupta-pindodaka-kriyah [41]

Adulterated progeny is equal to hell and destroyer of Kula. The ancestors of such people fall out from their position due to loss of Shraddha pinda and tarpana water which they won’t receive anymore due to mixed progeny.

दोषैरेतैः कुलघ्नानां वर्णसङ्करकारकैः ।
उत्साद्यन्ते जातिधर्म्माः कुलधर्म्माश्च शाश्वताः ॥४२॥

dosair etaih kula-ghnanam varna-sankara-karakaih
utsadyante jati-dharmah kula-dharmas cha sasvatah [42]

This dosha of ruining the Kula due to Varnasankara (marrying out of caste) ruins the Jati Dharma & Kula dharma forever.

उत्सन्नकुलधर्म्माणां मनुष्याणां जनार्द्दन ।
नरके नियतं वासो भवतीत्यनुशुश्रुम ॥४३॥

utsanna-kula-dharmanam manusyanam janardana
narake niyatam vaso bhavatity anususruma [43]

O Janardana, such manushyas who have destroyed the Kula dharma, we have heard that persons dwell always in hell.

Return to our motherland !

Our Vedic Rishis have recommended specific auspicious period / day for starting a new medication for chronic non-emergency illnesses and also Muhurtha for taking the first proper bath, after return to home from a prolonged hospital admission or even recovery from illness at home.

Dharma Shastra says that if we keep in mind these combinations there are high chances for quick recovery from illnesses and a disease-free life.

Kindly note that these auspicious kalas or Muhurthas are NOT for Acute / Serious illnesses or health conditions, which warrant immediate medical admission in hospital or treatment at home or treatment for saving life. The guidance here is only for chronic non-serious routine disease conditions which do not warrant urgent emergency treatment.

Finally follow the advice of your doctor who is the best judge of your health !
